Near Deer

Remember when deer sightings were so rare? When deer were so skittish, as many still are, of course?

Returned from Northeast Pennsylvania to NC by I-81 and 220 yesterday. Several deer spotted grazing in full daylight fairly near the highway.

Reminds me of my recent sighting of one deer right at the edge of I-85 Durham at dusk. Calmly grazing as hundreds of cars loudly whizzed by.

Deer now thrive near people, as opossums, raccoons, skunks, etc. have for a longer time.

Too bad you can tell the animals who "succeed" in this way by counting the road kills.
