In Quarantine

The NC Zoo veterinary hospital reported to the November issue of "The Midden", the publication of the NC chapter of the American Association of Zookeepers, that a rough green snake, a screech owl, frilled lizard and a ruby-throated hummingbird are in quarantine.

The Zoo holds animals in quarantine, usually for 30 days, as they arrive at or depart from the NC Zoo to another qualified institution. This is done to greatly reduce the risk of transmitting disease.
