Great "City" Trail

Ran my hour today on the Laurel Bluff Trail, Greensboro.

It is a great trail. Spring has made the watershed/wetlands trail especially enjoyable.

The trail follows the wetlands between Lake Brandt and Lake Jeanette. I parked in the pull-off on Lake Brandt Road next to the fence around the Greensboro water facility (I believe it is).

The trail head is well marked, but you need to make a quick, unmarked right turn toward a stand of mature bamboo and then an also-unmarked left at an old cinder block and wood out building. From there you can follow white "diamond" trail markings all the way to Church Street (3.5 miles).

It should really be called Laurel Bluffs Trail because there are a few bluffs created by turns in the old waterway. So the trail rises and falls and winds. Several plank walks help the hiker or runner through the swampiest places.

Believe the signs that warn against taking a bike or motorized vehicle. The trail is very narrow and is often a slip away from a quick, steep fall to the wetlands below.

Just saw two single individuals and one dog-companion on this handsome trail. No trash. Just a couple glimpses of homes that back up to the trail.

Note: I do not count as trash the old tricycle which has been put on a pedestal along the trail by some "public artist".
