Wildcat Another Katrina Refugee

Caty, the cloned wildcat, is at Birmingham Zoo awaiting return to New Orleans' Center for Research of Endangered Species (CRES), part of the Audubon Zoo's "complex". (Link)

Rescued from Hurricane Katrina, she is expected to be back in New Orleans (with her three cubs) by the end of the year, reports Patrick Henderson, Birmingham News.

" Visitors who don't read the signs probably surmise the zoo has lost its mind and is just putting out house cats to fill space.

"But a closer inspection shows differences from a neighborhood tabby.

""Little different build," said Marcia Riedmiller, Birmingham Zoo mammals curator, "little longer legs, little bit larger build.""
