5 jokers & 6 deuces
Lots of folks were on the Bald Eagle Trail, (Greensboro, NC) which I jogged from the Lake Higgins Park trail head today.
Twelve were off-road bicyclists or hikers out as duos. The buddy-system is safer, especially when you are dealing with the turns, trees and roots on bicycle. (One biking duo included one who was cleaning himself and his bike up after having gone off one of the trail's nice "board walks" and into the deep mud of the Lake Higgins wetland.)
I saw five folks who were hiking alone or with dog.
I was the "sixth joker". I tripped two or three times. One sent me head first toward one of the trail's wider trees. I accelerated to get my feet back under me (a dangerous maneuver; don't tell Ann!) and avoid darting the tree with with my head.
There were also another six folks on the half-mile, Lake Higgins loop trail, which occasionally runs parallel with the Bald Eagle Trail.
What do all these people drive? Toyotas. There were also two Subaru Outbacks, two Jeeps and a Honda Civic parked at the trail head.
Animal spottings? Not much. Great blue heron. Canada geese.
