Solid Shade

At NC Zoo general curator Steve Miller's recommendation I stepped out to the Rocky Coast late this afternoon to see the shade structure going up over what has long been the seal and sea lion exhibit here.

Wow! That is quite the substantial structure. Large beams were being welded high above the exhibit. (It DOES look like you can build several stories on top of that structure, Steve.)

I look forward to seeing what it will look like when complete. It should throw much needed shade over the pinnipeds and the exhibit. It should stand up to the elements for many years to come.
