Tort's Re-Return
The first two animals at the NC Zoo were Galapagos tortoises Tort and Retort, in the early 1970's. Recently they were returned to the NC Zoo, from their two new homes. The return visit was temporary.
Now we learn that Tort will be back for another season at KidZone here, where he will join a couple of Aldabra tortoises, also on their way.
Tort will arrive in March with four alligators set to go into the Zoo's Cypress Swamp exhibit.

This is very exciting news! Will we only have Tort for this year again, or is there a possibility that he will be able to stay with us? The Aldabra Tortoises, will they become permanent residents? The New gators will they be in the new exhibit? Will they be males or females?
Brian
Tort and the Aldabras will stay March to the following March at the minimum. (All we know for now on that.)
The gators will be in the large pond (the "new" exhibit spot for them) and we hope they will all be females, so the 4-to-6-footers get along with our other two females.
very good can't wait to see them, do we have a timetable for the gator arrival?
No, just "March". Not too long!
Can't wait!
