Zoos & Solar

The first two results today from my Google Alert on the topic "Zoo" both dealt with zoos using solar energy technology and educating their visitors at the same time.

Congressman John Yarmouth "secured $142,725 for the Louisville Zoo to carry out an energy conservation initiative that will include creating green roofs for the zoo buildings and fund an educational program for the zoo’s 818,000 annual visitors."

""My understanding is that this will solar-power the sky rides, so I sure hope it works," Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio joked." That Lowry Park Zoo. project "will demonstrate the uses of solar power to the zoo's 1.1 million visitors a year..."

The NC Zoo has huge solar panel arrays on three large picnic shelters. That project too seeks to educate many of our 700,000 annual visitors about alternative energy.
