Keeper Conversation
NC Zoo keeper Aaron Jesue has been monitoring the NC Zoo's facebook page today, to answer questions like: "How do you get a gorilla from California to North Carolina?"
A. "Jamani, myself, and a keeper from the San Diego Wild Animal Park flew via FedEx Cargo plane from San Diego to Memphis with a layover (so we could make sure Jamani was doing well, give her food/drinks, and keep a close eye on her). We then boarded another cargo plane and flew into Greensboro. We were picked up at the airport by fellow [NC Zoo] gorilla keepers and vets in Greensboro, loaded a zoo truck, and drove to the Vet[erinary] Center to the quarantine wing. Jamani was then unloaded into her new quarters and [she] checked out her new home."
