5 New Needed Barns

"The Zoo has just launched construction on five new barns designed to help house ...animals on the Watani Grasslands Reserve exhibit, including both antelope and rhinos. The $3-million project will create three new 2,500-square-foot community barns that will enable the Zoo to increase the number of antelope exhibited in the Grasslands. In addition, a 3,500-square-foot treatment barn for animals undergoing medical treatments and a 1,700-square-foot rhino barn will also be constructed. Expected completion for the project is summer 2011."

Hey Russ,

How are you? It's been a while since I posted on here. This is exciting news!!!! I can't wait to see them. What will happen with the current Rhino Barn? Where will the barns be located?

The main rhino barn, which was once the barn for both elephants and rhinos, is still in place, with larger outside exercise yards added when the new elephant barn was built for Watani Grasslands.

These barns are off-exhibit near "Service Support" and the African Plains and Elephant exhibit areas.
