"i rock for snot otters"
Why does it say "i rock for snot otters" on the costume Randolph Community College design students have created for the NC Zoo hellbender mascot?
"Snotty", the Eastern Hellbender (giant salamander), helps the Zoo's curator of reptiles and amphibians, John Groves educate folks about this "Species of Concern", also known as the snot otter.
Groves' research sees him, and others, finding and counting the big salamanders in the pristine mountain streams they require. You have to turn over many large "rocks" to find one hellbender.
