Stay Calm & Secure the Snake

During a behind-the-scenes tour of the Sonora Desert exhibit at the NC Zoo today with other Zoo staff, learned that if a "venomous-trained" keeper is ever bitten, then it is that keeper's responsibility to secure the snake BEFORE pushing the red button that brings other keepers rushing to her or his aid!

Of course, the keepers are also advised to remain calm, as then the venom will stay more localized.
