Good!...Darn!

"A new male white rhino will be arriving in late-October from Texas. It looks as if none of the female white rhinos are pregnant from the Artificial Insemination [A.I.] program." [David M. Jones, NC Zoo Director, senior staff meeting notes, 9/7/11]

I've been telling NC Zoo Society member groups around the state about the complicated logistics, great effort and expense of recent A.I. work involving a German team of specialists and our southern white rhinos; how we got four rhino cows impregnated for the "price" of two.
