Elephant Encounter of a Spirit Kind
"We found piles of body-temperature dung and plants dripping saliva—all indicators that an elephant had been right there. But, there was not an obvious exit trail leading from the water source back into the forest, so we had no idea which way the elephant went. It was almost like it disappeared into thin air." [Dr. Mike Loomis reporting on yesterday's Elephants of Cameroon events]
"Several of the team members are Bagyeli, and they agreed that the elephant...was actually a "spirit elephant"...and that explained why the elephant was able to simply disappear..."
"...it reinforced my sense that every person's beliefs about the world around us should be respected, even if one does not agree with those beliefs."
"Today is our last day in this part of Mount Cameroon National Park. We...did not encounter any animals."
